My love for you terrifies me
Leaves me shaken and lost
Feelings I never knew existed,
They take me over
So I ride the wave of joy you bring me
Crashing to the shore
Tears running down my face, laughter in my eyes
You break me
All the things you do
The smile that melts my hardened heart
The giggle that heals my rotten soul
All you give me... I never knew...
My life, it's bruised me
Left me not quite whole
And sometimes, the choices I have made...
And yet every step, every mistake,
Every broken part of me I've left along the way,
They all led me straight to you
If ever you read these words
With questions in your heart,
Doubt in your eyes
I hope just once I've got it right
So that you know how much you mean to me
How much I love you
How proud I am to be your mom

Post a CommentThis is so profound. You are right. Being a mother is the most wonderful (and terrifying) thing that you can do. Wonderful job on this!
Nice and touching poem. I also have a son now, that I love so much to. That love sometimes terrifies me as well, but I would not have it another way.
