Confessions of a Serial Fettucini Alfredo with Chicken Eater

It's been a long, hard week at work and finally, it is the weekend. You and your girlfriend are going out to eat at your favorite restaurant. It's kind of packed and after 45 minutes, you get seated. The waiter asks what you want to drink and within 2 minutes, he brings it. Now, it's time to order. You look at the menu for 5 minutes and realize that for 10 years you have ordered the same thing. Fettucini Alfredo with chicken.

I'm sorry but I love this dish. I fell in love with it around 17. I went to Olive Garden with my mom after a church service one day. We sat down and she suggested that I try it. When I first saw it, I thought this is too much for me. The plate was like twice the size of a regular plate.

I felt it was a meal for one those guys who shops at Big and Tall. But after the first bite, I was in heaven. The chicken bounces off the Alfredo sauce so perfectly. It's like the Italian Peanut Butter and Jelly. It got so bad that I started to get Alfredo sauce as a dip to the complementary bread sticks that they give you when you first sit down.

I even realized that I only liked the dish from certain stores or brands. Ragu has a great sauce and Olive Garden makes the best dish. Cottage Inn restaurant makes it pretty good but it ain't my first choice. Kraft is the worst though. My girlfriend try to give me their low fat version and it was not pleasant. It was water down, not letting the Alfredo come to its peak flavor. As someone who is not a food critic, I don't think I should have that much of a vocabulary for it's taste but I love it that much.

So if you see me at Denny's restaurant, know I'm getting the double cheeseburger with bacon and fries. If I'm at Subway, I'm getting the Chicken Bacon Ranch sub with the little cut up chicken, not the chicken patty. And if I'm at Olive Garden or Applebee's, I'm getting the Fettucini Alfredo with chicken and it's still funny to hear the waiter say, " You want your usual?" They know me well.
