When you look at his photo on the cover of Vegas Word magazine , the first impression that you get of Las Vegas, rap and hip hop artist Conflix is that he is a big boy! Everything about this artist is big, his sound, his look, his heart, his hopes, and his dreams. What 25 year old Dante Fortson is dreaming about is bringing ConFlix music to cities all over the world as a rap music superstar. He aspires to be famous like the artists that he idolized when he started rapping around age 12. Some of his influences were Jay Z, LL Cool J, Will Smith, and Notorious BIG just to name a few. He has been taking his music and himself quite seriously as an artist since high school. ConFlix is a Las Vegas, Nevada native who is shaking and bouncing the Vegas Valley hip hop scene to his tight beats and real talk on the mic. ConFlix is poised and ready to cut his first commercial album anytime the opportunity arrives.

Flix is certainly not waiting for someone to "discover" him by accident. He has taken the time to promote himself and his music , putting himself everywhere that his music may manage to be heard by the right person. On top of being a myspace.com musician who has 15,298 plays and is downloaded at least once every few hours. You'll find 'Flix on internet radio's Blog Talk Radio and Sin City Radio Live. Some of his newest music is featured on the Yessur Video internet magazine site. He also has profiles posted on the following sites:

With all of the various sites that he is on Flix is maintaining a blog and an internet magazine of his own to promote rap and hip hop artists in general and himself and his skills specifically. He is not only pursuing his dreams in music, Flix is also studying for a degree in Information Technology with the University of Phoenix online. It is clear that this man has a lot on the ball. The following is an excerpt from my conversation with Flix May 7th.

What made you want to rap?

Will Smith-Parents just don't understand and Wild Wild West by Kool Mo Dee

Growing up who were your major musical influences?

My major musical influences have been Will Smith, LL Cool J., Kool Moe Dee, Jay Z, Eminem, Joe Budden, Notorious BIG, 2 Pac and Run DMC.

Would you say that you have been influenced by other genres of music or other singers?

I like some Country if I bump into it. Rock isn't so bad either.

Is there a message that you want to bring to the industry or to the world?

That I am the best rapper in Vegas, period!

On the personal side I asked a few questions about his family and his mother. He had mentioned that she raised him up in a Christian home, though it was a single parent home and that his mother had worked really hard to bring them up with values and Christian morals. His father he has never met. When asked about this he says;"I've never met my father, my mom has tried multiple times to meet him but I've never really wanted to. It was never a big deal to me."

I asked Flix about his obvious faith in God and where that came from.

"My grandparents, and mom brought me up in a Christian home. As I got older, I started to question it, and decide it was what I truly believe. But I had to go through my own decision making process." What he has decided is illustrated in his song "Conversations" in which he is talking to God and having a chat about things.

I also asked Flix "If you blow up like you're hoping to do are there any baby mama's going to pop out of the woodwork and sue you?" He laughed and said, "Not really, well maybe one." It may not be a pretty truth but at least he is comfortable with the truth and keeping things real about himself. I asked him about what he envisions happening with him when his music hits and he blows up. I am sure that you can picture how your life will be once you get your break, will you stay in Las Vegas or is there somewhere else that you have always wanted to live?

Nope I plan to stay right here in Sin City.

Though Flix says that the people of Sin City have influenced him and his music more than the town itself, he feels a kinship with his hometown of Las Vegas. The Valley is the backdrop for his sometimes dark and more message oriented songs. Flix is diversified in the Las Vegas Valley music scene and with all of the various things that he is branching out into, internet broadcasting and music distribution, it is just a matter or time before someone out there hears him, signs him, and distributes him. Take my word for it this cat can put it down. If you don't catch Flixtape 1, 2 or 3, or at least a track or two from one of his numerous online profiles, believe me you will catch this Sin City soldier on your radio in the next couple of years.

Upcoming opportunities to hear the new Flixtape3 album are listed on his mySpace page with links to take you straight to his play dates. ConFlix is truly an artist that rap and hip hop fans should check up on. He is going to be a bull in the industry. Check him out on internet radio and internet TV. Hit his myspace page or any of the other listed sites above username Flixtape3 or ConFlix.
