Confound the Monkey

When Forgetfulness Doesn't... Wait, What was I Saying?

Steven Jacob Borthick
Confound the Monkey was a little more different at birth than the other little monkeys, and as he grew up, the other monkeys could see just how different he really was. Confound was VERY different. As everyone found, Confound could only hold his memory for a while, and over time, even that was diminishing. By age five, he could only hold his memory for up to a minute. What's more is that everyone could easily tell who Confound was by looking at him, due to the white fur in the shape of a question mark on his fore head and his webbed arms.

When Confound was two, he fell out of a tree and broke his leg. This caused trouble for the other monkeys because a few hours later, he forgot what he did and was trying to climb again. The monkeys had no other choice: the would have to do brain surgery and put a few extra holy bananas in his head.

"Confound," all the monkeys shouted as they looked for him. Today had to be the day. He was five years old, and they couldn't take any more of his forgetfulness.

The monkeys looked all over for the confused-by-nature monkey, but he was nowhere to be found. For the rest of their lives, Confound's family searched for him. The rest of the monkeys had no other option than to give up, however.

When Confound's mother died and went to Purgatory, she recognized Confound's question mark on the forehead of his soul.

"Confound! Where have you been?!"

"I'm sorry, mother. I forgot I was living!"

Confound ended up being the only flying monkey in Heaven.
