Congressman Barney Frank Could Lose Seat in the House

Polls Are Suggesting that Barney Frank May Actually Face a Contender in the Mid-term Elections

Is career Congressman, Barney Frank of Massachusetts, on his way out? Well, if you believe any of the recent polls, he just might be.

Reuters is reporting that state Representative, Barney Frank is in the "race of his life" to retain the seat he has comfortably held for nearly 30 years. Of course, when you consider that Barney Frank has never had anyone remotely close to booting him out of his place in Congress and that in 2006, he ran completely unopposed, anybody within in spitting distance would be considered a threat.

It just so happens, that Sean Bielat, a Tea Party backed Republican, is exactly that threat. A recent poll showed Barney Frank leading with 49% to Bielat's 37% and 12% undecided. It is likely the 12% that has compelled Barney Frank to invest $200,000 dollars of his own money to defend himself against what he says are "negative ads."

Is Sean Bielat Unqualified for the Job?

But, at only 35 years of age, Sean Bielat will definitely have his work cut out for him. He is grossly unqualified when compared to 70 year old Barney Frank, who many, including The New Bedford-Standard-Times, which has endorsed Frank, believe, in spite of his rough around the edges demeanor, has been a highly effective Congressman.

Maybe in different times and in a different political climate, someone like Sean Bielat wouldn't stand a chance against the more seasoned politician. But, voters are beyond pissed and eager to "throw the bums out." So, it just may be that the time has come for stalwart, Barney Frank, to become political chaff.

Voters are Tired of Status-Quo

While a good argument could be made (and probably is, by some) that it's risky to vote someone as green as Sean Bielat into office during difficult times, the stagnancy of the status-quo is becoming burdensome to many voters. Particularly, when, Barney Frank has often displayed the type of arrogance and pompous, bullet-proof attitude that comes with years and years of holding onto political power.

Couple this with the facts that he is riff with the stench of the unpopular bailouts and has been named as they primary architect of the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac fiasco and things are not looking good for the Congressman.

Frankly, it will be nice to him go.
