Congressman Chris Lee Announces Resignation Unexpectedly and Makes National News

Dale Miller
Congressman Republican Chris Lee recently resigned from his position in office. The news spread nationally within hours. His picture and story made the front page of the Buffalo News and made headlines in the USA Today. The front page in the Buffalo News showed a picture of Chris Lee and next to that was the actual shirtless photo he had sent to a woman he met on Craigslist personals.

Apparently, Lee was in contact with this woman he met on Craigslist through e-mail and possibly by cell phone. The gossip website the Gawker disclosed he sent a photo of himself without a shirt on to this woman on Craigslist while still being married with a young son. Lee said in a statement on his website, "I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff, and my constituents." Also, " The challenges we face in Western New York are way too serious for me to allow this distraction to continue." Lee announced that he has resigned effective immediately.

Gawker disclosed Lee lied about himself when he told the woman that he was 39 years old, divorced and a Lobbyist. Lee's resignation will probably result in a special election in the near future to fill his absence. People can only wonder what else Lee is hiding to make such a drastic move like that all of the sudden. All it takes is one politician to set a bad example and they seem to follow one after another with scandals.

Nobody's perfect and this should be resolved between Lee and his family privately but, if you're rich and a celebrity sometimes that's the price you have to pay if your going to be in that type of business. The other woman has been identified and interviewed by several news companies. She didn't expect to receive a lot of attention from this. She told a reporter, " I was just bored and wanted to see if some guys sent me a few pictures." She was actually on a date when she was called from another reporter and her date found the whole thing quite amusing.

Public people should have no expectation of private life. Those that do, probably are not smart enough to try to do the people's business anyway.

Interesting!! People do silly things sometimes and unfortunately lose their careers over it!
