Connecticut Audubon Center's Harvest and Halloween Events
Part 1 of a Two Part Series on Upcoming Local Connecticut Activities
Enchanted Forest
This yearly event takes place at the Audubon Center in Fairfield, it is a fun way for kids and adults to celebrate Halloween. The 2007 event will take place on Friday, October 27 and run from 5:30pm until 8pm. Everyone is encouraged to put on their Halloween costumes to join this spooky guided walk through the 'Enchanted Forest', which is known throughout the rest of the year as the Larsen Sanctuary. Children will have the opportunity to learn about the various animals that are active at night.
When participants finish their walk they are invited inside the center to enjoy Halloween themed refreshments, games and crafts.
If you want to take part in this fun Fairfield, Connecticut Halloween event you need to reserve your spot in advance. To do this, simply call the Fairfield Audubon Center on 203-259-6305. The price for members is $8 per child, $6 per adult. Non-members price is $12 per child and $10 for adults.
Halloween Owl Prowl
Learn all about Owls at the Milford Point Audubon Coastal Center on October 30 for this educational and fun Halloween activity. Participants will get to meet an Owl up close and discover the types of Owls that come out at night to hunt in the area. They will also learn about how the Owl is thought to have started the legend of ghosts.
The Mildford Audubon Center requests that you pre-register by calling 203-878-7440. Cost for members is $7, max of $21 for a family and $14 for non-members, with a maximum of $42 for a family.
Pumpkin Patch Harvest
This is another Fairfield harvest event for those of all ages. This event takes place on November 18 from 10:30am until 1:30pm at the Connecticut Audubon Center Fairfield. The theme of the event is learning what you can do with a pumpkin. Participants will be able to create their very own pumpkin treats. There will also be a 'Wigwam' set up that will teach children about the food used by the Native Americans. This is a great way to begin the Thanksgiving celebrations.
An adult must accompany children and it will be necessary to reserve your place in advance. To do this, call 203-259-6305. Cost is $7 for members, with a family maximum of $21 or $11 for non-members, with a family maximum of $33.
