Connecticut Fourth of July Events

Independence Day is on of the most popular holidays in the US. The state of Connecticut is no exception. On the Fourth of July families all around the state will be getting together to relax in the yard with a barbeque and head to a local event. Here are some of the fun Connecticut Fourth of July events happening in 2007.

Hartford
The state capital will celebrate Independence on July 7 the with the annual Riverfest. The city of Hartford and the town of East Hartford jointly host the 2007 Riverfest. This 4th of July event is family orientated and takes place over an entire day. Activities include live music including Latino music, kids activities, memorial service for Connecticut soldiers that have died in the recent conflicts of Afghanistan and Iraq, and a fireworks show. The fireworks display will take place at 9:45pm. This Independence Day event will take place at Riverfront Plaza & Charter Oak Landing, Hartford and at Great River Plaza, East Hartford.

Enfield
The Connecticut town of Enfield will be hosting an old fashioned 4th of July celebration. Events will be taking place in the town throughout the days of July 6th to July 8th. Events include live entertainment, Independence Day Parade, craft fair, concerts, activities for kids, a 5K road race and of course a fantastic fireworks show. Head to the Town Green, Route 5 to enjoy the festivities.

East Woodstock
The Connecticut town will hold a Fourth of July Jamboree on July 4th. Family events include a chicken barbecue, crafts, entertainment, traditional parade, fun races, sing alongs, hay rides and more. Don't miss this great event that beings at 11am and runs until 4pm. To participate head to East Woodstock Congregational Church, 220 Woodstock Rd.

Litchfield
To celebrate Independence Day, Connecticut town, Litchfield is holding a Turn of the Century Fest. The special event will take place on Litchfield Green and will include family friendly events such as a pet parade, entertainment, food and games.

Middlebury
The town of Middlebury's Fourth of July fireworks will have a fun twist, 3-D. Those attending this event which takes place on July 4th at Quassy Amusement Park at 10:115pm will be able to get a pair of special glasses which they can wear to watch the fireworks display, making it even more spectacular.

Mystic Seaport
For an authentic Independence Day celebration head down to Mystic, Connecticut on July 4th. The Mystic Seaport will be hosting a authentic 1870s Fourth of July festivity. Old fashioned traditions will be brought back as well as a traditional parade. This is not a free event. The cost for adults is $17.50 and kids ages 6-17 cost $12.

New London
If you didn't get enough Fourth of July celebrations in on the day itself then head to this belated Independence Day celebration in the town of New London, Connecticut. On July 14 New London will host the Mashantucket Pequot Fireworks Extravaganza. The fireworks display will be created by the Grucci Family and will occur with choreographed music. The display will be launched from the Thames River. The best spots to view the show will be along the river in New London and Groton. The show begins at 9:30pm.

Simsbury
The Connecticut town of Simsbury will be holding a two-day Independence Day celebration on July 3 & 4th. This unique celebration is not a free event but is sure to entertain those who come. The Hartford Symphony Orchestra will be performing a number of patriotic pieces. One of the main pieces to be performed will be the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky. After the music you will be able to enjoy a fantaist fireworks shows. Tickets are $18 if bought in advance and $23 if bought at the gate. The show begins at 7:30pm.
