Connecticut is home to some of the more famous haunted inns, as it is one of the oldest states in the country, according to Unsolved Mysteries. Whether your a professional or amateur ghost hunter, can spend a night as a guest in one of these inns and you might get lucky enough to experience some of the same things seen on shows like "TAPS" the "Ghost Hunters."
Captain Grant's Inn, Preston - A woman and two small children are said to haunt this inn built in 1754. It was built by Captain Grant, who was lost at sea, but his widow lived in the house until her death at 80. Knocks on the guest room doors with no one there is one claim to fame of this haunted location. The ghosts in this inn are mischievous and play pranks on the guests. The "Adelaide Room" experiences the most of the haunting activities, so if you want to reserve this room call a ways in advance.
Randall's Ordinary Inn, Stonington - this inn has guests reporting a ghost sitting on their beds while they were in them. The room temperatures drop quickly and the ghost of John Randall, the original owner of the inn is said to be seen inside and outside of the inn.
The Lighthouse Inn, New London - this inn built in 1902 overlooks Long Island Sound. This inn has two famous reoccurring ghosts, one of a bride who died when she fell down the stairs of the inn and one spirit of a young girl. Doors open and close, disembodied voices, footsteps and just overall eerie and strange feelings have been reported over the years.
The Red Brook Inn, Mystic - This is another older Connecticut building from circa 1740. The famous ghost of this inn is an old woman who wears a black shawl. This ghost is credited for saving guests at the inn from a fire.
Heritage Inn, New Milford - this inn is one of the older buildings in Connecticut as it dates back to circa 1780. Two of the guest rooms are said to be haunted by ghosts and while people have described this as a "friendly haunting" the ghosts seem to gravitate towards these two rooms.
