Conquering Frustration

Day 44 - a Year with God

Marilyn Quinn
I am having a difficult time managing my frustration. Not generally, but in regards to a specific issue. I have better success not getting frustrated about one-time occurrences; but when there is a persistent conflict that keeps coming up, I find it difficult to remain wise-minded.

Frustration is going to be a factor in my spiritual progress and personal growth. More importantly, I fear the possibility that frustration may ultimately cause me to give up. Quitting doesn't seem like an option when things are going good, but let yourself get frustrated enough times and it becomes a very tempting choice to make.

If we aren't trying and no longer care, then frustration will go away about that thing. But we also won't be making any progress there. We will be rolling over and letting the situation get the best of us. So, there has to be a way to keep the frustration at bay. After all, frustration results from not seeing progress fast; but giving into it will make your progress slower or even stop it completely.

Taking it one day at a time and not letting yourself get too far ahead can help. Baby steps; get through today without worrying about tomorrow.

Let frustration motivate you to keep going. Vow to move past it and keep moving towards victory.

"The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked." Proverbs 24:16

Accept that frustration is a part of life. We will probably never be completely frustration free. We have to use that knowledge to handle frustration better and learn from it. If you are frustrated, then something isn't quite right.

You aren't completely in faith that God can help you if you are letting frustration overcome you. God can do all things, remove all obstacles and he wouldn't set you to a task that you couldn't accomplish. Faith takes work and practice.

"Great peace have they which love they law: and nothing shall offend them." Psalm 119:165

Not only is frustration a lack of faith in God; it doesn't account for his timing. We are told there is a time and a season for all things. Perhaps God hasn't decided the timing is right; or it may not be his will at all. You have to give your wants over to Him and take them as they come.

Today I pray for patience to wait for what I am in search of and the peace to accept that it may not be God's will to have it come to me.
