Benefits

T. Ramaswamy
The managerial approach to happiness considering the body, mind and intellect as resources and adding time also as a resource confers several benefits. This is more so if we take refuge in spirituality which gives us considerable strength .Let us consider the main benefits.

Such a person is in peace with himself. He radiates tremendous calmness all around. It is a pleasure to enter into conversation with him. Life becomes smooth and intergrated personality development is ensured. Life balance is achieved.

There is reduction and elimination of greed. We attain happiness with sustainability. The situation reduces the intensity of unhappy memories. A nimble brain has tremendous processing power. It helps the mind to get satisfied easily and allows enough working memory space in the brain. Majority of 100 billion neurons in the brain are available to focus on a single thought. So less memory is locked up in the brain to think about routine worldly activities and attachments. This act can help in freeing the mind from psychological knots, which can take up a major portion of the memory. Removal of these knots helps to make the mind calm and fit for deep thought.

As a person progresses priorities in life change. His focus of life shifts more towards getting personal happiness through mental peace. He becomes internally secure and humble. This helps to promote all round sustainable development and life style. He gets inspiration and his speeches inspire others.

This approach when practiced gives excellent results in the management of coronary artery disease. Such a person can create a "presence" by developing a calm mind. This calmness of mind comes from internal security and is the outcome of spirituality. A person who is in peace with himself / herself can radiate tremendous calmness.

The final word is with the sage Patanjali. He says, "Undisturbed calmness of mind is attained by cultivating friendliness towards the happy, compassion for the unhappy, delight in the virtuous and indifference towards the wicked". This statement can help all humans to live a very full and happy life.

The managerial approach to happiness is worth giving a trial by all human beings. With knowledge explosion taking place and with better and faster communication facilities made available through the internet and electronic media, we can make tremendous progress. Attaining happiness is only a question of changing in our attitudes. If we manage our knowledand miseryge better and fully engage the mind imparting spirituality and humor ,we can enrich ourselves to live a life of real and lasting happiness. Many others have attained this successfully. Why not we also strive hard. Once we attain it we will never like to return to the old track of misery and unhappiness . (Concluded)
