Console Games on Your iPhone 4

How to Put ROMs on Your iPhone 4

Rachel Soden
A large benefit to jailbreaking your iPhone 4 is the ability to play NES, SNES, Sega and Playstation games on your phone. In order to do this, you need to purchase a ROM emulator from the Cydia app store. Once you have the ROM emulator on your iPhone 4, you need to get your ROMs to play on it.

The first thing you need to do is download WinSCP. WinSCP is a free SFTP and FTP client for Windows. WinSCP allows you to create folders on your iPhone 4 to place the ROMs in to. In order to get WinSCP to work, you need your device's IP address.

Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone 4. Click the "Wi-Fi" option. Press the blue arrow next to your wi-fi connection.

Open WinSCP on your computer. Type your IP address as the "Host Name." Enter "root" as the "User name" and the password is "alpine." Click the "Login" button. Make sure that your device stays powered on for your entire WinSCP session. If your device auto-locks, you lose your connection.

Click the ".." folder four times to get back to the main folder. Open the folders in the following order: var, mobile and media.

Click the "F7" key on your keyboard to create a new directory. Name your new folder "ROMs." Click the "OK" button.

Open the ROMs folder. Press the "F7" key to create a another folder. If you are downloading NES ROMs, name the folder "NES." Open your NES folder.

Copy and paste your ROMs directly into this folder. Close WinSCP and start the emulator on your iPhone 4.
