Conspiracy Theorists: Crackpots or Clued In? Cobain to 9/11
Conspiracy Theories Abound in Our Culture. Do They Have Any Credibility?
The term conspiracy theorist is usually seen as carrying a meaning of nutty, off the rocker, crackpot, quack, and various other negative connotations. There are so many conspiracy theories being tossed back and forth like so many tennis balls that one could pass out from the excitement of it all. I am so tired of hearing about 'questions behind the death of Kurt Cobain' that I could vomit! The guy was a very talented heroin addict whose personal life ran out of control to the point that he committed suicide. End of story - let it go, people. Yet one can view the website www.justiceforkurt.com and become likened to a rabid dog with resentment and angst regarding this tragic death. If simply visiting the site doesn't get you all jacked up, just click on the links named 'dead men don't pull triggers', and 'case docs and police reports'. The information therein ought to do the trick.
This brings me to conspiracy theories that abound regarding the Oklahoma City Bombing and the September 11th attacks. The 'theorist' currently in vogue is named Alex Jones. View his website at www.infowars.com. He has countless 'sources' from official government agencies and former government employees. I listened to him live on the radio for two hours this morning as he stated that he had no desire to make money off of his musings and pseudo-facts. However, while perusing his website, one cannot help but come across several invitations to buy a DVD produced by Mr. Jones or purchase a t-shirt sporting a favorite conspiracy slogan. My favorite uncle perished in the Oklahoma City Bombing and I would be livid if I thought for one second that my government had any part in orchestrating that outrage, but I see nothing valid to point me in that direction. Still, people choose to follow these purveyors of mystery and government concealment.
Still another example of conspiracy theory that has become quite popular amongst the crowd susceptible to this line of thinking is the one that says that the US never really went to the moon (http://www.weirdvideos.com/kaysing.html). Another is the group believing alien life forms crashed decades ago in Roswell, New Mexico (www.cufos.org/ros.html). Many of these folks would honestly bet their lives on their theory being fact. Just driving near Roswell, NM and notice the scads of souvenir shops with alien key chains, DVDs, books, and other novelties memorializing the 'Roswell Incident'.
The last of the conspiracy theories I want to address involve HIV/AIDS, syphilis, and other diseases such as the Ebola virus. Countless websites and organizations exist whose mission is to prove that US scientists cooked up the AIDS virus in a lab and infected people purposely. The same goes for syphilis, although they claim this occurred two centuries ago. Did we even have the ability or knowledge to bio-engineer a disease back then? Um, not if all the historical data are true. The notion that our government or any government for that matter infected persons with the AIDS virus purposely is, in my humble opinion, ludicrous. Don't believe there are people who truly believe this stuff out there? Believe it! Visit www.shirleys-wellnesscafe.com/aids.htm and www.cbc.ca/ideas/features/aids/index.html.
Does anyone out there truly believe our government is so utterly corrupt that they could orchestrate all of these historical events and keep the public relatively ignorant of their agenda? Oh, and one more thing, Shakespeare did not write all those plays - they were a collaboration of several playwrites. So there! No one man could be so talented as to write all of those plays himself. I know I'm not that talented, so how could anyone else be?

Post a CommentI hope you wake up BEFORE you are riding on the FEMA train. It will be too late then.
It's truly sad that you simply trust the TV version of what occurred on 911. Please take the time to view the documentary "911 Press for Truth".

This work details how 4 NJ widows had to fight to even get a 911 investigation. It also reveals that the official 911 commission was a fraud. Please don't expect to be taken seriously when you don't do any detailed research and then play the role of a pop psychologist by claiming those who have concluded that 911 is an inside job are merely displaying "a sort of self defense mechanism when the world seems to be falling apart."
Gluck's logic is warped - she questions Alex Jones' motives because he sells DVDs. I guess no one like Katie Couric or Rush Limbaugh can be trusted because they earn millions of dollars - their services aren't free. It also needs to be stressed that ALL of Alex Jones' documentaries are available for free at Google video. See the link below for a link to "911 The Road to Tyranny" which conclusively proves at the OK City bombing was an inside job.

If Gluck is sincere she should be willing to watch at least one documentary and not dismiss Alex Jones because she devoted all of 2 hours to listen to one radio program. IF she also wants to objectively evaluate the 911 Truth movement she should examine

I'm no longer a conspiracy theorist...rather I'm a conspiracy observer. Look up the definition of 'conspiracy' and tell me the lobbyists and government officials AREN'T doing it.
Look at these two links before you decide the 9/11 was a conspiracy http://www.huffingtonpost.com/_97993.html and http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/50427/911_conspiracy_theorists_echo_early.html
I disagree. History has shown that conspiracy and secret societies are real. If you don't believe me. Just look at the symbols of the one dollar bill. They are not there not look pretty.
It's the deception they have made people believe they don't exist. If you don't think governments hurt people just look at Hitler. And also know that the Bush family financed him.
I urge you to at least look into that info before you draw your conclusion as to what is real or not.
