"On September 17th, 1787 the U.S. Constitution was signed by thirty nine brave men who changed the course of history". In commemoration of this historic event, September 17th is recognized as Constitution Day. Teachers and parents looking for ways to educate their children on the constitution or simply enjoy the day will find a variety of activities below.

Classroom Activities:

There are a variety of sites that assist teachers with school activities and projects. Civiced.org provides several resources that a teacher can utilize to assist in their lesson plans. These assets include complete lesson plans, simple games and activities, as well as general information regarding the constitution and its creation. Their site is well organized and has plans categorized by age and grade groups. Education World also has detailed information on the Constitution and contains detailed lesson plans and activities for your students.

The National Constitution Center has a library of information regarding the constitution that can assist a parent in planning a Constitution Day activity. Whether a parent is planning a simple reading and learning activity or wanting something larger, you should be able to find what you need here. Education World also has several school plans for celebrating Constitution Day, though they are more classroom oriented.
