The Cobble Hill Association (CHA) firmly opposes the idea of having private housing to offset the cost of maintaining the park. The CHA proposed that the Brooklyn Bridge Park open up public facilities like an ice rink or swimming pool instead.
According to the New York Post, a consultant was hired to find alternative methods for park funding. A subcommittee will evaluate the situation and there will be public hearings in the upcoming months.
