Contaminated Milk Could Trigger China's Economic Meltdown

Export of Chinese milk and milk products is on a standstill. Many countries have already announced that they will stop importing milk that are made and processed in China because of the recent findings that these products are contaminated by melamine, an ingredient that is used in the manufacture of plastics.

In the Philippine, BFAD, a government agency that regulates the sale of foods and drugs, have directed all concerned to stop importing milk from the Peoples Republic of China. Several countries in the Asia-Pacific region have likewise announced their intention to ban the sale of milk that are made in China.

The individual government's action could trigger the collapse of the Chinese economy because of the possible ban not only on milk but also on milk products that include thousands of other products that use milk as an ingredient in its preparation.

This will definitely result in the slowdown of trade between china and the importing countries. A more difficult scenario for China is the possibility that other non-food products will also be included in the import ban by various importing countries due to the perceived inferior quality of these other Chinese products. These include toys, electrical appliances, chemicals and just about any product that is presently being exported by China.

Unless the government of the Peoples Republic of China make a swift and radical move to counter the impending actions by the importing countries, China's economic boom which is regarded in awe by many, may abruptly come to an end.
