Contemplating Sleep

Louisa Burgess
The clock is ticking and still I'm awake
darn that late afternoon nap
I'm thinking as I contemplate sleep
You know sleep
that rest that
fuels your body and more important
your mind and
your soul
and keeps you going
I know it
I love it and
I like it
especially around 4 o'clock
in the afternoon
When the bright day starts to
fall away and the blanket
on the couch
looks more inviting than the kitchen
where there is dinner to cook
and phones to answer
So here I sit
thinking as I contemplate sleep.

"Thinking" puts lots of people to sleep. Great tag line and poetic tone, Louisa. Zzzzzz (smile), Michael
