Be sure to measure your Kitchen Counter before you run to the local home improvement store. This will save you a lot of time and money!
To Make a Contemporary Faux Slate Kitchen Counter You Will Need:
Exacto Knife
Contemporary Faux Slate peel and stick floor tiles
Level
Tape Measure
The first step is to measure your Kitchen Counters. Everyone will have a different size, so I can only give you tips on how to know how to make your Contemporary Faux Slate Tile counters.
You will want to use a level and a chalk line to mark off one or two vertical lines on your Kitchen Counters. This will help you keep your tiles even and level. This is also important to do horizontally as well especially if you live in an older home. Never follow the lines of your wall edges, the house embay have settled over the years, which will make you handy work uneven.
Now, to start applying your Contemporary Faux Slate tiles I recommend working in sections. This means, you will want to tile portions of the Kitchen Counters and work your way until you cover the whole counter. Try not to work in lines, which may lead to uneven placement.
Be sure to clean your laminate counters first and let them dry.
Now, most peel and stick laminate tile will be fairly sticky on the back, but you can add some spray adhesive if you want. Spray it lightly with a strong adhesive spray. This will help each Faux Slate tile really stick in the long run. You can skip this step though, those little peel and stick tiles are super sticky.
When you reach your left and right edges of the Kitchen Counters you will need to use the exacto knife to cut your faux slate tiles down to size. Don't forget the front lip of the counters.
So, start in laying your Contemporary Faux Slate peel and stick tiles on the Kitchen Counters. You will want to firmly press each one in to place.
Cover the entire surface.
Now, once the Contemporary Faux Slate tile pieces have dried in place you are finished.
Just like with regular laminate counters you can not place hot pots and pans on the center. They will burn, but our will have an awesome look that covers an outdated counter.
Tip: If you can I recommend removing the sink while you tile, then placing it back when you are finished.
