Content for Your Business Brochure

S. Ann
When deciding on the content for your business brochure, you have to ask yourself these essential questions:

What am I selling?

Who am I selling to?

What is the most effective way to sell my product?

You can use these questions as a way to break your brochure into sections. Imagine a customer or client who has just picked up your brochure. You want to persuade them to choose to use your business. By breaking up the brochure into easy to read, short sections, you will be providing information about your business which will catch their attention.

Once you have answered these questions, you are now ready to create the content for the brochure.

Since most business brochures are tri-fold brochures, meaning that they will have three sides of content, a graphic or two, business location and other contact information, you should use the questions above as a guide when writing the sections of the brochure. To make things easier, take a blank sheet of copier paper and hold it so that the long side is on top.

Fold the right side, then the left side to create three panels on the inside of your brochure. The front panel is for your business name, slogan, logo, or graphic. You do not want to use too much content on this panel. Open the paper to find three blank panels that you will fill with content. You will also have a forth panel located on the back of the third panel to include a graphic or contact information.

The First Panel

The first panel, located inside your brochure, should include information about what you are selling. You can include your specialties, number of years you have been in business, and any other information about your product or service.

The key to brochure writing is to keep the writing simple. Do not write long paragraphs or sentences. Use bullets if possible. Answer the question fully before moving on.

The Second Panel

This panel can be tricky unless you know exactly who your clients and customers will be. This is the panel where you list all the benefits of using your service or product. Again, try to write short sentences and try to use bullets where you can. Be colorful and energetic when describing all the wonderful attributes of your product or service.

This is the panel where you sell your ideas.

The Third Panel

The third panel should be a continuation of the second panel. This is the panel where you should list all of the added features and minor benefits of your product or service. This is also the panel where you can offer special deals or gifts for using your business.

Again, you are selling your product or service.

The Forth Panel

Use the forth panel for a graphic that represents your business or use it for your contact information.

As you can see, creating content for a brochure should not be too difficult if you break it into sections. Remember to keep the content entertaining, engaging, and most of all, keep it as simple and easy to read as possible.

Most people will not take the time to read long winded explanations or descriptions of products. Always include all of your contact information including your web site address. This will help you increase your client and customer base.
