Representatives will be on hand to showcase a sampling of the variety of classes offered this fall. Meet staff from every continuing education area, including Community, ESL,GED, and Literacy Education. You'll also have the opportunity to give your valuable input about classes you would like to see in the future. Some of Evanston's best restaurants will provide their house specialties for a "mini-taste of Evanston." Oakton Community College, a leader in adult and continuing education in Illinois, collaborates with Maine, Niles, Northfield-and now Evanston-Township high school districts to form a educational partnership called the Alliance for Lifelong LEARNING (ALL) in a typical year, more than 36,000 people register for adult education courses at the College. All coordinates the resources of each high school district to make additional instructional services available for every adult resident age 18 and over.
Continuing Education Courses, offer a vast selection of special interest topics and hands-on experiences in the Arts, Communication, Computers, Distance Learning, Family, Health Awareness, Home Study Courses (Real estate), Job Development, Leisure, Online Classes, and Technology Training. There are certificates of completion that is awarded to students in alliance Lifelong Learning class upon request of the instructor or student. Completion of classes are determined by instructors, with a minimum of 75 percent attendance in most programs. The program offer just about every class you can think of, they even have classes in Plumbing,Upholstery, Auctions and Appraisals, Digital Photography, just to name a few, they also have Computer Graphics Design, writing, what ever you're interested in learning you can learn it at ETHS Alliance for Lifelong Learning Continuing Education School.
There are some small fees involved, you can apply for Financial Aid, or Scholarships are available. Residents of the Oakton Community College district who are 60 years or older are eligible to enroll for one-half of the course tuition stated for each course (does not apply to to-tour expenses). Proof of age and residence must be provided at the time of registration. Half-price tuition may not be requested after full price tuition has been processed. This is a exciting new partnership between Oakton Community College and Evanston Township High School.
