If you have an anger issue, let me help you. At one time, I also dealt with this issue and it is not a good feeling. I would blow up at the drop of the hat and say things that I wish I could take back later. I had a dear friend that would help me with these issues and between the two of us, we came up with some things that helped me overcome this issue. I called it my anger checklist. If I done the things on my list, I could control my anger a lot easier and manage it better. So here is my checklist and I hope it works for you as well.
Listen to Soothing Music
The first thing for the checklist is soothing music. This may sound a bit crazy to you, but if you play soothing music while you are angry, it will calm you down. So, you should have the music in reach at all times. Maybe use a cd, MP3 player or iPod, but something with calming music.
Think About Something Funny
The next thing on the checklist is to think about something funny. Sure there has been a time in your life when something was so funny you almost wet your pants. When you get angry, go back to that time. Think of that funny time and just start laughing. This will calm you down and allow you to come out of that angry state quicker.
Breathe, Breathe & Breathe
Yes, I know this is one of the oldest tricks in the book, but if you really apply it, it will help. When you become angry, go shut yourself in a room or get away somehow and take very deep breaths. It may take you 10 minutes to calm down or it may take you 20. No matter how long it takes, just breathe and calm down. On this note, it is probably best that you don't say anything to anyone until you have calmed all the way down.
So, there is my checklist. Use it wisely and keep yourself from saying things out of anger because you never know when someone will leave this earth and how awful it would be if that was your last words to that person! So breathe, think about something funny and listen to soothing music.
