Controversy and Huge Revelations: Two of the Best Ingredients in Bringing Great Content to Your Website
Why Are Your Web Readers Not Returning to Your Site Every Day? Because You Are Not Giving Them Reasons to Come Back!
LOOKING FOR A FIGHT
One of the greatest tools a writer can use is the ability to stir people's emotions up with just one sentence. Most readers love to be challenged in their belief systems every time they read about something they feel strongly about, but you cannot go over the line with an anti-semitic or racist remark, of course.
You can take a stand against certain religious beliefs, for instance, but you cannot denigrate an entire religion over the actions of just one person who you happen to disagree with on abortion or the death penalty.
The best way to write about controversial subject matters such as these is to describe an event in your life or someone else's life that caused an abrupt change in your own belief system regarding abortion or the death penalty. A great example of this actually happening would be the case of Mikal Gilmore. Mikal is one of the best non-fiction writers working today, and you can read his fantastic essays about subject matters such as the Iraq war, the assassination of John Lennon and the big controversy in Britain over the bad misbehavior of the "Sex Pistols" during the late 1970's in various back issues of Rolling Stone magazine.
But did you know he is also the brother of one of the most hated murderers to ever be executed in America? His brother was Gary Gilmore, the infamous small time crook who killed at least two innocent convenience store clerks while in the act of robbing their stores.
Mikal was his younger brother who was always scared by Gary's psychotic behavior, and was not shocked at all when Gary was arrested for killing those two people in cold blood.
USE YOUR OWN TRUE LIFE REVELATIONS TO CONVEY CONTROVERSY
Mikal actually witnessed his own brother's execution by firing squad and described every part of the violent shooting in his controversial book "Shot in the Heart". Mikal went on to write about how he felt his brother should be put to death for his crimes as well as for the fact that Mikal never believed his insane brother could be rehabilitated into becoming a decent human being living in American society.
Putting his own personal beliefs out there for the world to see using his own true life events, was a way for Mikal Gilmore to receive accolades for his tremendous writing style in the book "Shot in the Heart". I am certain that most of my readers will not have any traumatic experiences such as the one Mikal Gilmore went through in their own lives, hopefully, but you should start considering writing down whatever personal experiences you have had when it comes to controversial subject matter right away.
FINISH OFF WITH A COMPELLING ENDING
But before you can even start writing your controversial article or blog posting, make sure you have a clear ending to your compelling story first. If you don't have a clever ending to your article, you probably will be mired in a mass of boring details that have nothing to do with your main topic. Your personal event that changed your perspective on abortion rights, for example, might have been forever changed because a sister or niece was sexually assaulted by an ex-convict, and was impregnated.
If you now believe all abortions should be legalized because of this personal event, you need to describe how it affected you at the end of your article to really drive home your final statements. You could discuss the legal precedent that Roe Vs Wade generated that allowed legal abortion in America, and how you are glad your sister or niece could get their much-needed abortion done without going to another country where abortion doctors are known to kill their patients using shoddy medical equipment.
Whatever your controversial stand on one of these topics is, always be sure to write about your true and personal feelings on the matter. That way, you will generate all the website viewers that you will ever need to ensure you of further success on the world wide web.
