Convicted Kidnapper / Accused Cannibal Dies in Prison
Nathaniel Bar-Jonah was Serving a 130-year Sentence for Kidnapping, Sexually Assault and Choking a Teenager
Not but three years after the first incident, Brown once again impersonated a police officer, this time kidnapping two boys. After making the two boys undress, he then tried to strangle them. Luckily one of the boys broke free and immediately contacted the police. Once found, police located the young child inside of Brown's trunk, naked and handcuffed. For this incident, Brown received 18 to 20 years.
After being in prison for less then a year, Brown decided he would turn the tables. He started telling his psychiatrist that he was having lucrative fantasies about murder, dissection, and cannibalism. It was not long after that, that Brown would be transferred to the Bridgewater State Hospital for Sexual Predators in 1979. After only 12 years, Brown would be released on the notion that he was not dangerous anymore. Once released in 1991, Brown changes his name to Nathanial Benjamin Levi Bar-Jonah.
While Bar-Jonah is being released his entire family is picking up their Massachusetts life and moving to the ever so somber Montana life. Three weeks after, Bar-Jonah is arrested for assault on another young teenage boy. This time, he is not thrown back in jail, but given a deal to move with his family in Montana, as well as a slap on the wrist with a two year probation sentence..
Once settled inside of Montana, Bar-Jonah complies with Massachusetts and set up his appointments to see his probation officer. The probation officer is obviously puzzled by the stories Bar-Jonah has disclosed to him. Previous incidents, as well as Bar-Jonah's psychiatric history is requested, however no records were ever processed or sent.
Dressed as a police officer by an elementary school in Great Falls, Montana, Bar-Jonah is arrested again in 1999. A search warrant is issued, police officers find hundreds, and thousands of pictures of little boys and names of little boys from the Massachusetts area as well as Montana.
While searching through Bar-Jonah's items, police come across writings that are encrypted, it takes the FBI to figure out what they say, and when they do, they wished they hadn't. With phrases such as "little boy stew", "lunch is served on the patio with roasted child" and "little boy pot pies", police are shocked as well as horrified.
Authorities investigate and conclude that Bar-Jonah is in fact responsible for the 1996 disappearance of 10 year-old Zachary Ramsay. Ramsay disappeared on his way to school. Montana authorities believed that Bar-Jonah dissected the young child for stews as well as serving neighbors hamburgers which were made from the young boys body.
In July of 2000, Bar-Jonah was charged with the murder as well as the kidnapping of 10 year-old Zachary Ramsay. Unfortunately the mother of Ramsey was so distraught, she believed and still does believe that her son is still alive and that Bar-Jonah had nothing to do with his disappearance. Charges against Bar-Jonah were once again dropped due to lack of evidence. However this time, he had also been charged with sexually assaulting three other children, which included torturing one of the children. All three children lived in the apartment above Bar-Jonah.
After years of basically getting away with horrific crimes, the Montana Supreme Court sentenced Nathaniel Bar-Jonah to 130 years in prison. Bar-Jonah did appeal the sentence, this time being turned down.
Eight years later on April 14, 2008, Nathaniel Bar-Jonah was found dead inside of his cell. Reports indicate that Bar-Jonah had been in poor health, an autopsy will be performed later this week to obtain cause of death.

Post a CommentToo bad this monster wasn't sentence to hang, had the sentence carried out by an incompetent executioner, and left to twist and writhe while strangling.
Probably died of poor nutrition. Sometimes the news is scarier that horror films. Great article.
I don't think "Lucrative" is the word you meant to use. While I'm at it, in the sentence, "he realized that he had seen him" is slightly awkward IMO. "He realized that he had seen Brown" is clear. Also, how does seeing him somewhere earlier relate to quick apprehension? Third paragraph implies that Brown had an ulterior motive for confiding his fantasies. Is that substantiated somewhere or just your opinion? Fourth paragraph switch to present tense is awkward and unhelpful; it's more suitable in conversation. Settled "in" Montana is preferable to settled "inside of" Montana. Fifth paragraph is just a mess. Too much to list. I'm not doing the second page.
Not trying to be an ass, but if you want to be a journalist you have to step up your game big time. I don't go around doing this but there was all sorts of awkwardness going on as I read this. Hopefully this is some kind of wake up? Maybe try reading a lot.
Great reporting. Everything comes around!
I hope he died as a result of his cannibalism. What a monster. I think that these cases should be taken individually and if someone like him is arrested they should be in prison forever. If you kidnap a child or molest a child, consider the crime. Is it a parent who is trying to protect a child? That is different than a stranger or someone who is kidnapping for sexual purposes. Lock their asses up forever before they make little boy stew. this is horrible.
Good riddens!
I just wonder if he was in solitary confinement, protective custody, or general population. People who hurt children don't do well in general population, and are known to "have accidents" sometimes.
