I was raised on good old American food, aka contemporary cuisine so naturally I had to locate one of the most excellent spots for a good old fashioned burger in Sacramento. You'll find yourself wondering why you should choose this dive instead of one of the many local mcdonalds in the downtown area, simply put a larger variety and bigger portions win every time. Cookie's Drive In located in downtown Sacramento has been perfecting the art of hamburgers for many years, you'll notice that the menu is quite diverse, and there are many different types of hamburgers to choose from. The family that owns cookie's drive in is Chinese, and they take the business very seriously. You can tell their love for the business through their delicious food, everything is made fresh and by hand, just the way that people have been enjoying it at cookie's for many years. One of the first items that I ordered was chocolate malt, can you say heaven? This was the best and most creamy tasting malt that I have had anywhere in Sacramento, most restaurants in the area make their malts much too malty, whereas this malt was simply perfect and the ideal treat on a warm fall evening.

I decided to try a catfish sandwhich first, the catfish was cooked to a simmering perfection, and the meat was extremly lush and tender as well as juicy. Coupled with my sourdough bread, the sandwhich was absolutely delicious; I added the usualy condements such as pickles but no cheese with this sandwhich. My other favorite sandwhich is the ostrich burger; the meat is really delicious, as I was skepticle of trying this at first. But now I love the ostrich burger, this meat patty inside the burger is much larger then anything that you'll find at somewhere like McDonalds, and the bun is nice and toasty hot, which makes for a pleasurable burger experieince. Where the Frys are concered it's a different story, because the first time that I tasted them I fell in love with them. They are fried to perfection, and just crunchy enough that they taste excellent with some salt and katcup, I haven't had fries that taste this good in a good long while. If you were around the old fashioned burger joints then you will definitely appreciate these tasty French fries with your burger, and I usually order an extra plate of fries just because they have such good taste.

There are also many other delicious burgers on the menu, including the cheese burger, which has authentic melted cheese on the patty instead of the cheap grocery cheese. The service at Cookie's Drive in is also excellent, the staff is able to man the two windows perfectly, and this place also takes ATM/Debit cards, which is excellent if you are in a hurry for lunch. Cookie's is located in downtown Sacramento, and the lunch crowd can get quite heavy, so I recommend going right after lunch if you can so that you will get to enjoy your burger much faster. Overall Cookie's is the quintecential burger joint in Sacramento, and one that I recommend visiting.
