Cookies in a Jar Recipes

Janet Trieschman
A popular gift in a jar is cookie mix. These are easy to make and can be cost effective for your budget if you are making multiples and buying in bulk. Children love to get in on the making of the gift and what a wonderful lesson in giving for them to experience. On the other hand, children will love baking and eating the cookies too so you might want to keep a jar on hand.

Many recipe books exist on the topic of gifts in a jar, but you may want to start with a free recipe you can find online. Below is a list of websites that offer recipes that are made for jar gifts, specifically cookies. No need to buy a cookbook, and you can get started right away.

Food gifts are very welcomed by many. Because they are perishable, they can easily be used and consumed. Because cookies are a treat, may people may not always have home baked cookies and they would be special to have.

Cookies in a jar place all the dry ingredients into the container. The baker will have to add ingredients like milk, eggs, butter and vanilla. Each jar should be given with a list of additional needs as well as the instructions for baking which would include baking time and temperature.

Typically, cookies in a jar are given in canning jars. If you don't have caning jars on hand or don't want to buy them, other options exist, like bags, plastic ware and such. You can be creative with the packaging and decorating of the container.
