Cooking with Mickey Volume II

A Comprehensive Book Review for Those that Love Disney Food

Aimee E
This gourmet Mickey Mouse cookbook consists of two hundred and ninety-eight pages, includes the Disney chef's recipes as well as personal recipes of Walt Disney. Specifically, this wonderful little red cookbook features the delicious recipes that are served at Walt Disney World in Florida, Disney World Marketplace and Disneyland California. It retails for around twenty dollars, and if you can't make it to one of the parks to purchase the cook book, it can sometimes be found on Amazon or other used book outlets for a lower price.

Have you visited one of the theme parks or hotels and tasted a dish that captivated your taste buds and you wanted to create the recipe? Then this cookbook is for you. Recreate the most wonderful, tasty dishes and beverages that will take you back to your vacation. You can do this from your own kitchen any day of the year.

The different chapters found in the book are; beverages, appetizers, soups, bread, salads and salad dressings, eggs and cheese, seafood, poultry, meats, vegetables, desserts, sauces and a restaurant index.

A sampling of the recipes to be found includes Sautéed Chicken in Puff Pastry from Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and Polynesian Egg Rolls. The Pina Colada Dip from the Disneyland Hotel includes pineapple and maraschino cherries deliciously served with fresh fruit. Also included are the recipes for Top of the World Pancakes, Derby Vegetables and Walt Disney's own personal recipe for Chili with Beans.

If you have a sweet tooth, dessert recipes include Fantasia Cheesecake, Apple Strudel with filo dough and Hawaiian Chocolate Brownies. The famous Christmas Gingerbread Mickey's with royal icing will bring back memories of your holiday visit to the parks and hotels.

Each recipe includes a list of ingredients, detailed instructions and the serving portion yielded. You can also find listed under each recipe the restaurant or where each originated from. After each chapter, you can find note pages to jot down your remarks on the recipes that you have tried. This is a nice idea incase a family member is allergic to one ingredient and you have to substitute something else.

The Disney Chef's have done a superb job sharing the most requested recipes that guests have enjoyed during their magical visit to Disney World, Disney World Marketplace or Disneyland California. The cookbook can be purchased at these locations, as well as select Disney resorts. Whether you're just learning to cook or you're an experienced gourmet cook, Cooking with Mickey Volume II, is a must for your home collection.
