Shrimps are a highly appreciated food. Almost all shrimps are processed and frozen near the sea. You can buy frozen shrimps, which have their shell intact.

Ways to prepare shrimps

Remove the shell and the shrimp's vein before cooking, if you want.

In order to cook 450 grams of shrimps, boil 2 liters of water. Add some salt in the water. You can add lemon juice if desired. Stop the fire and pour all the shrimps into the water. Dip them for 3-4 minutes or until the shrimps are ready. The shrimps are very tasty when they are cooked less time.

Check if the shrimps are ready by cutting one of them in half. If the meat is fully opaque, then it is ready.

Remove the shrimps from boiled water immediately.

Tips to cook shrimps

Boiling or dipping quickly the shrimps is the most common method to cook them, but the shrimps can theoretically be cooked in any way: in a saucepan with butter or oil in a tray, a grill, in a vessel with steam or in a hot oven.

The shrimps must be cooked quickly, in order not to loose their consistence. The average shrimps (with a length of 5-7 cm) require only 2 minutes; if the shrimps are bigger, they need 3-5 minutes to be ready. Cook the shrimps in their shell, if possible. The shell protects the delicate meat during the cooking process, adding flavor. Remove the vein and the shell after cooking them.

Add cooked shrimp to hot dishes only when everything is ready, as they mustn't continue to be cooked along with other foods.

Surprise Shrimps

Surprise-Shrimps are a plentiful shrimp recipe, in a unique combination with turkey. Moreover, in Surprise Shrimps, the shrimps are under cover, hidden by the turkey meat. You will surprise the guests with this savory Surprise-Shrimps, which melt in your mouth.

This recipe is a Jewish traditional food and is served in a special way: add in the center of the plate a wine glass that contains Grenadine syrup and water; put above the liquid an ornamental candle and pour some sauce around the glass. Place the food beside the decoration and serve it.

Ingredients:

10 average size shrimps

10 thin slices of smoked turkey breast

2 oranges

50 ml Grenadine syrup

1 spoon of honey

50 grams cream

1 glass of red wine

30 g grinded almonds

30 grams butter

1 leek

Method of preparation

Remove the shell from the shrimps and the intestine inside the shrimp;

Fold each shrimp with a slice of turkey breast, and fix it in the middle with a toothpick; add the sauce and cook them in the oven for 20-25 minutes.

Put butter in the pan and add the thin cut leek, salt, pepper and fry them on medium fire the composition becomes red. Remove the pan from the fire; Pour it on the folded shrimps.

Prepare the sauce by putting butter, almonds, salt, pepper, red wine, Grenadine syrup, cream and honey in other pan. Mix until the sauce becomes creamy.

Cut the oranges in half and place them on the plate in the shape of a circle. Put the shrimps on oranges.
