Painting fingernails can be a real chore when you are constantly re-coating them to make them look nice, or having to touch them up due to chips and smudges. You can keep your fingernail polish on longer so you aren't reapplying it all day long and you can help your fingernail polish dry faster as well, so you aren't constantly smudging your fingernail polish either! Learn simple home items that can make painting your fingernails so much more fun and easy!
If you want your fingernail polish to last longer, then soak your fingernails first in white vinegar. The vinegar saturates and opens up the fingernail's pores, so to speak, so when you apply your fingernail polish, it gets absorbed more easily and sticks to the fingernail better. Simply apply vinegar to a cotton ball or cotton swab, rub on the nail, and let dry. Or, soak your fingernails in a bowl of white vinegar for a few minutes to both make your fingernails more ready for fingernail polish, and soften your cuticles so you can push them back easier. The end result is beautiful nails that keep their polish on longer than usual!
Want that fingernail polish to dry faster so you can get on your way without smudging your nails? There are two ways to dry your fingernails in super speed. Run your fingernails under cold water (cold as you can stand) for 60 seconds, to allow the fingernail polish to set. Or, if you have cooking spray handy, spray your nails with cooking spray and they will dry in no time! I don't know why this works, but I have tried it and it does! My guess is something to do with making the oil a spray makes the fingernail polish dry that much faster. Makes it nice and shiny, too, and far as I know, even generic cooking spray works great! Works for me, anyhow.

Great tips Abby!!
My nails are always neglected. If I paint them at all, I use a fast-drying sheer white color. Gardening is not good for the nails. Even if I wear gloves, it seems dirt always gets under my nails anyway. :) Thanks for the tips.
