Cool

S. E. Masters
Like the sun shimmering off the Pacific blue
God flaunting his unequaled greatness
That's cool

Torrents of volcanic run-off
Racing side-by-side
Down rock strewn slopes
Hell...that's cool too
And an oxymoron to boot

The top of a head
Working it's way through
Exposed to the outer world
For the very first time
My first born, a son
Man that was cool

Tom and Jerry, Mighty Mouse or Yogi
Three Stooges (w/Curly)
My man Marvin the Martian
Me at age 10
Sitting in front of the tube
Saltines and peanut butter
In cahoots with my taste bud
The early days
Weren't they cool

Like seeing a kid respect the elderly
You hardly see that these days
But when you do
It's cool

Wearing a Brioni suit
And Testoni shoes
Mix it up with a Sean John shirt
Let me step out like that
Damn Skippy that's cool

Don Cornelius
Ice cold
The coolest of cool

An end of Spring drive
From L.A. up the Calie coast
Wit' my girl
Tasting wine is divine
Much cool

Like, like hearing the spoken word
Diggin' a poet's flow
Finger poppin', groovin'
Drummers hittin' hard
Moon-doggie baby
That's cool

Like having friends
From all walks of life
Sharing the same hopes
The same dreams
Similar convictions
Knowing that all people are people
Color don't matter
That's cool

What are common attributes
Of Republicans and Democrats
Same bulls@%t
We all know that
So it's cool

What is the difference between
Al-Quaida, Taliban, the Klan, rogue street cops
Corporate pimps, American street gangs
And the Bush White House -
Not a damned thing
And that ain't cool.
