Angel in X-Men: First Class

The summer blockbuster "X-Men: First Class" opened in theaters nationwide today. One of its stars is Zoe Kravitz. She plays the X-Men character Angel Salvadore. Angel is a mutant gifted with the ability to fly. Angel also can vomit acid. While Angel is pretty cool, Zoe Kravitz isn't so bad herself.

Coolest parents in the world? Possibly -- Zoe Kravitz is the child of actress Lisa Bonet (The Cosby Show) and rock star Lenny Kravitz.

X-Men: First Class fact: She auditioned for the superhero movie X-Men hung-over because she didn't really think she had any chance of being cast.

Elevator Fight: Proving she actually is the daughter of an actress and musician, she doesn't just act but also has a band. You aren't really that cool if you aren't in a band anyhow, right? Her band Elevator Fight recorded their first album mostly on a diet of whiskey and pizza. I don't know if Elevator Fight is the best band ever, but they get my vote for the best diet ever.

Cool alternative band names: This has little to do with Zoe Kravitz, but I think her next band should be called Escalator Argue. Just sayin' --

Facts on X-Men First Class cast-mates: The actress describes Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Raven/Mystique, as a godsend. And she is dating co-star Michael Fassbender who plays Erik/Magneto. She met Michael Fassbender, who is around ten years older than her, while making the superhero movie.

Cool friends: Zoe Kravitz become good friends with Jay-Z after being cast in his video for the track "I Know". And her best friend is said to be the equally cool actress Olivia Thrilby.

Random cool facts: Her first leading role was in the film Yelling to the Sky. Her character Angel's wings are CGI but the tattoo is real in the movie. She is quoted in ASOS magazine saying "all that it-girl sh*t makes me kind of uncomfortable."
