Cool Jobs: Careers that Are Fun, Too!

Find a Unique, Enjoyable Job!

Morgan Vermeil
Most of us wish our jobs were exciting, entertaining or fun - rather than just a way to earn a paycheck. Unfortunately, most careers aren't a barrel of laughs every day. Imagine hearing your tax accountant gleefully shout, "Woo Hoo! I'm going to work today!"

That kind of thing just doesn't happen.

However, if you need a career that promises more than a paycheck, you may want to consider one of these unusual jobs:

Ranch Hand: These days, ranches are more than just working farms. They're also tourist attractions! Sign up to be a ranch hand on a dude ranch designed to treat "city slickers" to a taste of country life. You'll get to work with animals, interact with the public, and experience life on a ranch.

River Guide:
Do you love to kayak or whitewater raft? Many rivers seek river guides during the busy summer season. This is a great opportunity to enjoy kayaking, canoeing and whitewater rafting - and get paid for it, too!

Cruise Ship Musician:
Have you ever dreamed of sailing to exotic locations on a high-class cruise ship? Sharpen your musical skills and sign up to be a cruise ship musician. You'll get to travel to tropical paradises and enjoy gourmet food while you earn a paycheck performing for passengers.

Casino Server:
Are you an experienced cocktail waitress or restaurant server? Head to a gambling town and get employment with a casino. You'll be surrounded by glitz, glamour and fast cash, plus you get to rub elbows with famous lounge acts and musicians.

Teach In Foreign Countries: You don't need to be fluent in another language to get a job teaching English in foreign countries. It's a great way to see the world while teaching kids and adults how to speak English.

Stadium Vendor: Love sports? Get a job as a stadium vendor. You'll get to see all the big athletes, plus enjoy watching the game. Perks often include extra tickets.

Ski Instructor: If you're a fairly advanced skier or snowboarder, you may want to consider offering your instruction services to a ski or snow resort. You'll teach classes or individuals in the day time, but that leaves your evenings free to hit the slopes!

Amusement Park Attraction:
The idea of dressing up in a costume and waving to kids may not sound like a lot of fun, but you get plenty of perks, too. On your off-time you get a chance to enjoy the amusement rides and see the attractions!

If you have a hobby or pastime that you particularly enjoy, why not combine your passion with a paycheck? Seek out employment in the industry that fascinates you so you always enjoy your work.
