Many years ago temporary kid tattoos were very popular, but then disaster struck. Grandparents will remember that some temporary tattoos for kids were being laced with LSD and other substances. For a while parents were staying completely away from temporary kid tattoos. Today however, temporary kid tattoos are completely safe and free of danger.
There are different ways to apply a temporary kid tattoo. Most of them will have a small list of instructions printed on the backside of the tattoo itself. If there are no instructions, you can use general rules. The general rules are that you should peel the front plastic cover from the tattoo. Next, you should place the tattoo on a body part, with the design touching the skin. Take a warm wet cloth and press against the back of the tattoo paper until it seems completely moist. You should not rub the paper, just pat it. It is best to leave the moist cloth on the tattoo paper for at least ten seconds. Lastly, remove the cloth and peel the paper backing away from the skin slowly. The tattoo should remain on the skin.
Temporary kid tattoos can last anywhere from six hours to six days or more. It really depends on the quality of the temporary tattoo. Temporary kid tattoos of good quality will last longer and look more realistic. Cheap varieties will likely peel off within a short amount of time.
Temporary kid tattoos are the perfect way to entertain your child while on a long trip or to convince them to behave before going to the grocery store. You will be shocked at how interested their new tattoo will keep them. They are also great for teachers to use within the classroom as "prizes" or to give away in birthday party grab bags. No matter where you use them, be sure you know it is ok with the parents before helping the child apply them. Some parents would rather their children not play with temporary tattoos, even though they are harmless.
Remember that a temporary kid tattoo is perfect for children of all ages. Children who are very young might not like them however because they cannot be washed off immediately. Sometimes younger children are alarmed at what they think is permanent. Children aged two and above typically love to get a temporary kid tattoo however. Look for them at your local stores and stash them in your purse or wallet for a quick fix when your child is close to a meltdown in public. You will be glad you had something easy on hand!
