Cooper's Seafood House was established in 1948 by the Cooper family, and is a family-run business. There is also a Cooper's location in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The restaurant is easy to spot, right off of Main Street across from Bruno's Market in Pittston. There is a big fish on the sign, and ample parking once you pull into the lot. Cooper's Seafood House is almost always full, particularly on the weekends-evidence of the delectable food inside.
When you enter Cooper's Seafood and give your name or the name of your party, you can read old newspaper clippings from the greater Pittston area that have been framed and mounted on the wall, while you are waiting to be seated. The dining rooms have a sea-faring theme and are beautifully decorated. One of the rooms faces out over the waters of the Susquehanna-with tables for two, or larger tables for families.
One of the popular features of Cooper's Seafood is the free steak or lobster dinner on your birthday. You just need to bring some form of an ID, preferably your driver's license, to verify that it is indeed your birthday. Many people in the greater Wilkes-Barre and Scranton area look forward to taking advantage of this offer to enjoy a tasty birthday dinner with their families each year.
Although Cooper's Seafood specializes in seafood (hence the name), they also have delicious beef, fowl, appetizers, soups, and desserts. There is a children's menu with items like spaghetti, chicken nuggets, hotdogs, hamburgers, and popcorn shrimp. The early bird menu is available from Monday through Friday, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Cooper's Seafood offers banquet facilities for breakfast, lunch, or dinner occasions. They are flexible, offering selections from their menu or other specialties. Sit-down or buffet options are available. Cooper's also has off-premise catering for events such as bridal showers, christenings, rehearsal dinners, and weddings.
Diners are welcome to purchase gift certificates from Cooper's Seafood-thousands are purchased throughout the year. Also, they may be purchased online, and Cooper's offers an online gift shop through their website, coopers-seafood.com. Tours and field trips are offered where the children are educated about seafood and local history. The regular hours of operation are Monday through Thursday: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.; Friday and Saturday: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.; Sunday: 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
