Coping in Today's World

Rik Rodriguez
Today the stress are different that they were 30 years ago , Information and technology are not really making life easier. The amount of technical information is growing exponentially, no one can keep up with it. Prices are rising as the value of the American dollar plunges to new lows. Our brothers and sisters are being killed daily on our streets. In fact more Americans are getting killed on our city streets that are being killed in the war.

More laws are being created so rapidly that our judicial system has turned into a kangaroo court system. More non-violent offenders are jailed in the USA that any other country in the world. Their are those who believe they can change the natural course of what is about to happen to the good old USA. They could be correct, who are we to judge them.

Its is my belief we take our self's to seriously, so my first suggestion on coping is, try to not take yourself so seriously. What a great place to start. Next I would say stop watching the news. Yes stop watching the news, Why? Most of the network news is misinformation. Sensationalized by media hype and the networks desire for better ratings they call almost anything news these days. When was the last time you saw something on the news that really help you, or made you feel good for that matter? Really we should stop watching TV all together. You will find that your life will change for the better. Try stopping for a week and see how productive and more positive you will become. TV is just a drain it takes from you!

Stop playing video games. Video games are a waste of time. They take way more than they give also. Some will say that they teach valuable skills for war. All the better reason not to get your family involved in them. In years to come they will find that some of these games may relate to mental disorders. Even some of the people that play now recommend not getting involved in the games.

Coping is easier if you drop some of the unproductive habits like watching TV and playing video games. Try it. You will find plenty of other things to do besides watch TV and play video games. You could read, write, or even spend time with your family. That would be a real change wouldn't it!
