Copy Sex and the City Fashions for Less

Before Sex and the City (SATC) was created, I didn't know what couture fashion was. Sure, I had subscriptions to Vogue, Glamour, InStyle magazines for years, but I never paid much attention to what the latest couture trend was. I shopped at the mall looking for bargains or was at Target finding fashions for less. After watching Sex and the City, I was obsessed with Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana and Manolo Blaniks.

However, I could not afford any couture fashions even if they were on deep discount. After SATC ended on HBO, my desire for couture did not go away. When the Sex and the City movie came out there was a whole new line of fabulous fashion with pricey price tags. The Alberta Ferretti champagne dress that Miranda wore, the Ivory suit that Carrie wore, the brown quilted Chanel bag that Charlotte toted and the red, pointy, Roberto Cavalli shoes that Samantha strutted in were just a few of the couture wear that I coveted. Despite that I desired the Chanel bag that Charlotte carried in the movie, I had to find something similar to the SATC fashions or go deep in debt.

It took some searching, but I was able to find replica wear similar to the high fashions seen in the Sex and the City movie. Carrie always wore some outrageous ensemble. Of course, I wanted the ivory pantsuit that she wore with a pink and white stripped button down shirt as she walked down the New York streets with Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha. Carrie's pantsuit was the sexy version of men's wear.

In the movie, Carrie's pantsuit was a Ralph Lauren with a price tag of $119 dollars, black peep-toe Manolo Blahniks with a price tag of $600 plus dollars and a Judith Leiber clutch that cost more than the suit and shoes together. Of course, I could not afford any of this fabulous couture wear. On the internet I searched, I was able to find a much cheaper version of this masculine fashion made feminine.

The search was long and grueling to match the Carrie Bradshaw style, but I did find similar fashions at www.forever21.com, www.jcpenny.com, www.sears, www.target, and www.pugster.com for much less. Forever 21 had a pink, long-sleeve, button down, collar shirt for only $9.50. The shirt was the best bargain. The rest of the sexy, man pantsuit I found at JcPenny. Miss Bisou fashions had a shirred, white and black pinstripe vest for $29.99. Worthington brand at JcPenny had white slacks for $19.99, metallic, open-toe pumps for $19.99 and a metallic, silver clutch with a cute buckle in the front for $15.99.

At Target.com, they had cute rhinestone clutches for $14.99 and they come in pink or ivory. Sears.com the whole pantsuit ensemble was just a click away. I found a white vest by Star City for $17.99, Harve Bernard white, sateen pants for $21.99, Apostrophe ¾ sleeve, pink, stretch, button down shirt for $14.99, and Metaphor Cookie black, open-toe shoes for $24.99.

Carrie's white pantsuit ensemble cost around $4500 plus dollars. The Sex and the City fashion for less could be bought for around a $100 dollars at Forever 21 and Jcpenny. From Target and Sears, the pantsuit could be bought for around $95 dollars. WOW!! You can dress like Carrie and look like a hot, sexy fashionista for nearly nothing. With the dollars you save, you can buy some fun flower pins, two or three pairs of shoes and a couple clutches. Pugster.com has beautiful, rhinestone brooches to accessorize the outfit and you can be a flower wearing DIVA like Carrie Bradshaw.

All of us Sex and the City fans can dress like Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha without going deeply in debt. The labels may not be couture, but the style can be copied. Sex and the City fashions can be attainable for so much less at Forever 21, JcPenny, Sears, and Target. Stores, which are the stores we shop at all the time. Despite that the clothes are not high priced couture, the look is still fabulous, fashionable, and glamorous for much, much less.
