Associated Content has confirmed Corey Haim, a Canadian actor popular in America, died Wednesday at only 38 years-old, likely from drug use. Early reports from Los Angeles Police Department indicate there is evidence the television and movie personality may have overdosed on drugs he ingested late Tuesday night, though the nature of the substance hasn't yet been revealed. Corey Haim had long battled a well-known addiction to various drugs, especially to prescription pills.

Popular for his roles in movies such as "The Lost Boys", "Lucas", "Silver Bullet" and "Watchers", and television appearances on shows such as his own "The Two Corey's", the talented Corey Haim passed away just after midnight early Wednesday morning according to police and hospital officials. Corey Haim died so unexpectedly and at such a young age that his death has left fans shocked.

"Oh, Corey Haim, you were my first crush! Boo-hoo! :(" was posted by longtime Haim fan and Facebook user, Nicole L., as her Facebook status when she heard the news. Many other fans and Facebook users such as Donald P. and Vanessa G., also expressed their sadness online, with simple messages like "R.I.P. Corey Haim".

According to LAPD, Corey Haim's mother reportedly found her son unconscious in his apartment early Wednesday, and someone at the home called paramedics to the scene. Haim was then said to have been rushed to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, where officials confirm he was pronounced dead at 2:15 am.

Haim started work on "The Two Corey's" for A&E in 2006 with fellow celebri-Corey, Corey Feldman. The reality TV show was halted after two seasons, due to Feldman and Haim's differences. Reportedly, issues concerning Haim's drug addiction eventually caused the rift between the two Corey's that ended the well-received A&E series.

Corey Haim had been fairly open with his addiction, but perhaps not as open with his supposed recovery. It is unknown at this time if those close to Haim realized the actor was having a relapse. In an August 2004 interview with The Sun UK online newspaper, "Here's What Happened To Corey Haim", Corey Haim alluded to taking multiple types of pills, and in very heavy doses. Haim suggested he was up to 85 Valium pills on some days, which he acknowledged was a very hard number to believe, let alone actually ingest.

However, the star entered rehab in the early 2000's, and had been professing his sobriety basically since 2005. Sadly, it appears from all early reports, including apparent confirmation from the LA County Coroner's Office to LAPD, Corey Haim died from the addictions he tried more than a dozen times to free himself from.

What a waste. It always amazes me when people that seem to have it all throw their lives away on drugs. Great job on this.

It is so sad that he died so young. I admired him in his early film roles and still feel he could have regained popularity if he'd gotten early help.

I agree that too many celebrities are dying so young. Tragically, this probably won't be the last one. Great reporting Jennifer, as always.
