Jumbo Sized Collectible Figurines

Corinthian Headliners are mini-sized bobble head like figurines that have been around since 1996. These three inch figurines were in the shape of superstar athletes from leagues like the NBA, NFL, NHL, and, of course, MLB. It seemed the most popular line of Corinthian Headliners were both the MLB and NFL figurines. Popular athletes such as Mark McGuire, Barry Sanders, and Derek Jeter were very popular during the late 90s and their figurines sold like hotcakes. The McGuire headliner was very popular in 1998 due to his 62nd home run achievement as well as the Sammy Sosa Headliner. These highly detailed figurines would retail around $3.95 in most retail stores. Hobby shops on the other hand would raise prices on these figurines because they would consider them highly collectible.

After two years on the market, Corinthian PLC decided to release an unusual line of Headliners figurines. These lines of figurines were called "Headliners XL" and would carry much more detail than the original Headliners. Each Headliners XL figurine would approximately be six inches long unlike their three inch counterparts. After both Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa shattered Roger Maris' homerun record of 61, Corinthian PLC decided to commemorate both these players by releasing a Headliners XL two-pack featuring their historic achievements. Besides sports, Corinthian also released their celebrity version of Headliners that would feature characters such as Austin Powers, Jason from Friday the 13th, Worf from Star Trek, and Paul Stanley from KISS. Some of these celebrity figurines came with miniature accessories such as guitars, chainsaws, and helmets.

Both the original Headliners and the XL Headliners were very easy to find in retail stores such as Toys "R" Us, Target, and Wal-Mart, but have been somewhat non-existent since 2004. Fortunately, www.eBay.com carries tons of impossible to find Headliners for incredibly low prices. Some vendors sell these figurines by lots for fewer than fifteen dollars each. I once bought eight different basketball Headliners for eleven dollars in an auction. That lot of Headliners contained players like Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and David Robinson.
