Corner Bakery Cafe Delights Taste Buds in Atlanta, Georgia

On a recent trip to Atlanta, Georgia for Dragon*Con, I spent much of my trip on a hunt for good food that could be enjoyed on a budget. It wasn't until my last day in Atlanta that I stumbled across Corner Bakery Café, and I immediately wished I had found it sooner.

Even though Corner Bakery Café was directly across from the hotels that housed Dragon*Con, it wasn't as jam-packed with people as the other downtown restaurants we visited. I attribute the extra elbow room to Corner Bakery's quick and friendly service, clean and organized dining room and ability to take orders To-Go.

Although Corner Bakery Café's ordering at the counter may initially make you identify the bakery as being of fast-food design, the friendly faces behind the registers and comfortable seating in the dining room break the idea that fast-food has to be laced with angry teenage staff and plastic seats.

And then there's the food... if you're sick of breakfast sandwiches that are grease-laden with side items that drip and ooze through their wrappers; then check out Corner Bakery Café's breakfast menu. I enjoyed every last bite of The Commuter Croissant; a beautiful croissant sandwich filled with eggs, applewood bacon, and juicy red tomatoes with a dash of cheddar cheese.

My traveling partner (and husband) delighted his taste buds with the Corner Bakery Café's Smoked Bacon & Cheddar Panini; a perfectly grilled sourdough sandwich filled with the same egg, cheese and bacon delights that I enjoyed in my breakfast. Since we were in Georgia he also opted to try a side of Grits for the first time, and they arrived in a bowl of steamy perfection topped with just a dash of cheddar cheese.

Even with adding a coffee and Chai Latte we had a meal that was less than $10 a person, the only time we'd managed the budgetary feat in the four days we spent in Atlanta. Tummies happy and wallet still full, we had no problem referring others at Dragon*Con to Corner Bakery during our last day at the convention and vowed that the next time we're in Atlanta we are going to hit them up again to try their numerous lunch and dinner items.

My experience with Corner Bakery Café was the most satisfying of all my dining adventures during Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia. I'm sure that if you're in the market for quick, friendly service and good food without having to empty your wallet you will find Corner Bakery Café to be just as delightful as I did.
