The Chicken Pomodori costs around $6.75 it's made with sliced chicken breast, basil, spinach, tomatoes, provolone cheese, and pesto mayo on sliced sourdough bread. It comes with a pickle slice and Corner Bakery chips or baby carrots. One sandwich has 770 calories, 69g of carbohydrates, 42g of protein, 5g off fiber, 35 of fat, 1g of trans fat, and 2097mg of sodium.
The sourdough bread that the Chicken Pomodori is made with is thick and it has a chewy texture. I don't think it tastes particularly sour or tangy but it's not as bland as plain white bread so I like it.
When I first ate the Pomodori, I noticed that the Corner Bakery gave me plenty of chicken breast on the Panini. The chicken was cut up into thick strips and was well seasoned and peppery and it was moist and tender.
The spinach adds a heavy woodsy flavor that's balanced with the sweet light taste of basil. The roasted tomatoes on the Chicken Pomodori Grilled Panini taste fresh and juicy and they just add another layer of sweetness that goes so well with the spinach and basil. All the flavors are so aromatic and they balance each other out so well, and it kind of reminds me of eating pizza.
I also love the pesto mayo, it's quite tasty. Normally mayonnaise is really boring and bland. But the pesto brings an oregano flavor to the sandwich, and its really sour almost like pickle juice so it adds a tangyness that wakes up the flavors in this Corner Bakery Grilled Panini.
I love cheese on a sandwich and the provolone on the Chicken Pomodori is melted to perfection, it just oozes everywhere. It basically ties all of the flavors together, from the chicken and the bread to the basil and spinach.
In the End...
I freaking love the Corner Bakery's Chicken Pomodori. It's an excellent Panini with its hearty, sweet, and tangy tastes. I in all honesty could eat it at least once a week and not get tired of it, but I limit myself to twice a month because of the fat.
The only thing that I'd recommend is to eat in the restaurant instead of taking it to-go. The bread can get kind of soggy if you take it home and the hot cheese and chicken just tastes better when you eat it on the spot. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
