Coronado Springs Resort Hotel at Walt Disney World, Florida - a Review

Beth Benson
Each year my profession hosts their annual symposium in one of the great 50 states. This past year, we had the pleasure of hosting it at one of the most magical places on Earth: Walt Disney World, Florida. When you're first arriving to Coronado Springs Resort Hotel, you really do not see it coming. Surrounded by tall trees and flowers, you are shocked to find a huge, gorgeous resort hiding in the lush landscape.

In a full circle around small lake, you find around ten buildings that each contain sets of hotel rooms. A small walking bridge oversees the smaller part of the lake and gives you access to all hotel rooms beginning with six as well as an enormous Mayan pyramid themed swimming pool. Before you even make it to your hotel room you lose your way just admiring the scenery and just how large Coronado Springs Resort Hotel is.

I'm not going to lie, prepare for a good hike from the main building if you are on the other side of the lake. My room was right next door to the main building, but you had to cross a mini walking bridge to get there. You are looking at a ten minute walk at least. The great news is, a small go kart like shuttle is available to hop on and be carted to your destination within Coronado Springs Resort.

When you finally make it past the scenery and check in at the front desk, you are, yet again, wowed by your surroundings. There are so many front desk clerks that the guided rope waiting line area will never get full. The front desk clerks are very friendly and provide you with a special Coronado Springs Resort Walt Disney World folder that contains a map of Coronado Springs Resort, a guide to the Disney area, your room key, as well as a special welcome letter, and a questions and answer sheet about the resort.

Now it is time to find your way to your room. Keep your map handy, for the first few trips around the resort, you will need it. Upon entering your hotel room, you are immediately hit by a blast of welcomed cold air. With the Florida heat and humidity, for those of you (like me) who are not used to it, your best friend will be that air conditioner. Your door opens into the main bedroom area. A huge king size bed awaits you with mounds of large fluffy pillows, and a huge puffy comforter. In front of the bed is a large dresser complete with built in refrigerator, coffee machine, and a large flat screen television with DVD player. On the right side of the dresser, there is a small desk that has Internet access, desk lamp, comfy desk chair, as well as a recliner chair in the corner.

The minute you walk into this room, after the drive or flight, not to mention the walking, the first thing we do is test the bed. There isn't really much testing to do, you lay down and its immediate comfort and you will slip into dreamland in seconds!

But for those of you that dodge the bed when entering, and make a bee line for the bathroom area, you will be very satisfied. From the main bedroom, there is a set of large dark wood doors that open into a sink and dressing area. A huge mirror that takes up the entire wall greets you and as you look around your sink, you will see a generous amount of Disney oriented soaps, hand towels, washrags, and lotion. To the side is the entrance to the restroom complete with a big shower. The shower pressure is amazing!

I never had a chance to run into the maid service, however, each time I had entered my room, everything was vacuumed, cleaned, made, and restocked.

Due to being a work related function, I am unable to supply you with proper costs to what a magical vacation stay at Coronado Springs Resort that this would be, but I can tell you this; Coronado Springs Resort is a wonderful choice for a Disney hotel location. The accommodations are one of the best I have ever seen.
