Corragio! Lessons for Living from an Italian Grandmother - Despite Illness, Pain, & Loss - Book Review

Corragio! by Lisa K. Gigliotti, J.D. Inspired Change in My Attitude to Change How My Chronic Illness Affects Me

Jen Walsh
Corragio! Despite Illness, Pain, and Loss fell into my lap at just the right time. For me it was exactly what i needed to hear. Corragio, Italian for courage, is the main theme of the book and the author has it in spades. I laughed, I wept, and I grew while reading this 332 page gem. Lisa Gigliotti has been put to the test time and again, living with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Myasthenia Gravis, surviving the death of her mother and grandmother at a very young age, and dealing with doctors and people who told her she would never accomplish her goals, yet she did just that.

The book, reported to be the first in a series, takes you through some of the physical and mental challenges Lisa faced after diagnosis, while dealing with her illness, and while suffering great loss in her life. Her experience helps the reader put things into perspective and realize how to find their inner courage. This is not a new age book full of fluff and promises, it gets down to the real nitty gritty of life and explains how to stand up against adversity. It is a lesson that while there will always be things that happen in our lives outside of our control, there will also remain things we can control and if we home in on that and pull from our strength we can beat the odds.

I highly recommend this book for those facing chronic illness, caregivers, people who have suffered untimely loss in their lives, those just interested in a moving life story. An exerpt from the book may be found at www.withcourageican.com I urge you to pick up a copy today!
