Corruption/Destruction

x
The jack-booted preacher tells us that we're all going to hell.
But he's the real sinner, he just keeps it hidden so well.

Ivory towers get boring and old.
Ivory towers are just not as white as we're told.

Proving once again to all that they're not made of gold!

We live by the laws that they make in Washington, D.C.
But, what good is that to us here in Knoxville, Tennessee?

You'll get your freedom, but just on their terms.
Corruption/Destruction, we opened a new can of worms.

The ones with the power are always so damn paranoid.
Cause they've got a date with destiny that they can't avoid!

Washington, heaven, excuses for gain.
Corruption/Destruction, they live for inflicting pain.

Oh, Washington, thou art truly the city of shame!

I like this poem, because it is telling of the truth.
Way to go! You are such an inspired writer, because you tell it as it is! Great job!

I don't think this poem is cynical, unfortunately though, it is true! My heart aches for this country to find a better way!

Likewise, Harry. I love my country, and hope someday to have it back from the greedy, corrupt people who have hijacked it for their own gain!

Cynical huh? Well, so am I and I don't have problem with this poem. :D I feel the same way towards my country Indonesia. Corruption is everywhere, plus all those terrorist issues. I still love my country though. Please keep up the good work. Let's uncover some more nasty truth. :)

    Cory? Cory WHO???

Nice poem Mike. If I was more of a federalist I could embrace it's message more. Cory's comments make no sense and should be deleted in my view, but it just proves the First Amendment lives on.

Words of wisdom spoken so well, the corrupted ones will go to hell.
