Cosmetic Product Review: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Sephora's Bestselling Shadow Primer

Alexis Valentine
Urban Decay is a cosmetic brand that's known for a lot of things, but was is arguably the most eye catching about this brand is their packaging. Urban Decay's products each come in a very edgy, artsy package whatever the product may be. But it's not the packaging that hooks their customers, it's the quality. One of their best selling product is their Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

I was hesitant on spending the money on Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion because their products aren't exactly the most budget friendly, but when ULTA had a sell I immediately grabbed a bottle. What I liked about this eyeshadow primer was that it's really as good as everyone says it is. It lasts all day and works with all eyeshadows, even the cheapest quality ones. I have some eyeshadows that crease like crazy, but when I used them with Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion it instantly made my shadows better. My eyeshadows were lasting longer without creasing or fading, and I didn't even have to use much of the product to cover my eyelids.

I liked that the primer came in a cute genie bottle-like tube with a mess free applicator. The color is nude and goes on colorless when it's blended, which makes it great for any skin tone. There's no shimmer to it too, which I liked because I don't need more shimmer if I'm already using shimmer shadows. I also liked that Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion went on virtually weigh-less, didn't clog my pores and it wasn't oily. I loved that when I use this eyeshadow primer it really makes my colors pop and true to color. I also loved that it's a cruelty-free product because Urban Decay doesn't test their products on animals.

As much as I loved Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion there were some flaws to it too. As I mentioned earlier Urban Decay products tend to be on the pricey side. A bottle of their eyeshadow primer cost between $17 and $22. The bottle is cute but not very practical. Due to it's odd shape and the fact that the applicator tilts to the side it makes pulling it out a little difficult. Another thing I didn't like about the design of the bottle is that if you don't cut the bottle open towards the end of your use you'll end up wasting product, because the applicator can't reach certain places in the bottle.

Cons aside, I really love Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I'd definitely be purchasing this product again, but I'll most likely wait for a sale and stock up on it. If you haven't tried this eyeshadow primer yet I would recommend it. Urban Decay products are sold online and in Sephora and ULTA stores.
