Cosmetic Product Review: Urban Decay Lipstick

Lipstick for the Makeup Trendy Gal

Alexis Valentine
I've longed wanted to try out Urban Decay's lipstick. I've heard such great things about their products but their lipsticks was one of their most popular items. Urban Decay's lipstick comes in a nifty tube that's so befitting of the Urban Decay name. The brand itself is a fairy pricey one, especially if you're use to paying drugstore prices like I am, and like most people I'm living on a tight budget too. So when I found out that there was a sale on an Urban Decay set that came with all sorts of goodies, including a tube of their lipstick I couldn't pass up the deal. I gave this tube of lipstick several weeks worth of try before making my judgment.

What I liked about this lipstick was that it had a creamy texture to it, and contained vitamins A, C and E. I found it nourishing and moisturizing. It's not often that I come across a long lasting lipstick that didn't dry out my lips. I was very pleased with the staying power of Urban Decay's lipstick too. It stayed on for most of the day, and I have a habit of wiping my lips a lot, sometimes the whole day. I really liked that Urban Decay's lipsticks come in different coverage. I can choose among full coverage, shimmer, creamy or sheer. The color selection is great too. There are loads of vibrant, rich colors to choose from. I also liked that there was no funny smell or taste to this lipstick. In fact it had a caramel scent and flavor to it, but nothing too sweet or strong.

Some other great points to Urban Decay's lipstick is that it also contains hyaluronic spheres. I'm not sure what that is but it's suppose to stimulate cellular functions that prevent dehydration, as well as fill in lines and wrinkles. I definitely think it worked because I have noticed a difference in the before and after application. The best part, in my opinion, was that these products weren't tested on animals because Urban Decay is a cruelty-free company. What's even better is that they offer vegan friendly products too. Their vegan products are marked with a purple paw print.

My only issue with Urban Decay's lipstick, as well as most of their products, is the pricing. A tube of lipstick cost $22. The quality is great, and the packaging is nice but I can do without the fancy packaging. As much as I love their lipsticks I can't justify spending $22 on a tube of lipstick. Would I purchase this product again? Sure, but I would never spend the full price on it when I can find this same product elsewhere for a discounted price.
