Costco is the Entertainment Capital of the World - Here's Why

Ever sat at home with the weekend upon you and wondered what the heck you are going to do? Can't decide between a movie, going to the big game, or heading out for a bite to eat? Or perhaps, worst of all, you are completely broke and can't afford to do anything. Why not head over to your local Costco or any other wholesale club store for that matter, and do it all.

Wanna catch a flick? Okay, so you won't be able to see the newest blockbuster that's playing ay your local megaplex but they will generally have one of their oversized TV's playing the latest DVD release and, if you're really lucky, they will be have a special on home theater systems and you'll get surround sound to go with it. One problem that may arise is that the movie will be halfway through already but if you just shop around for a bit you'll be able to catch it from the beginning later as it runs on an endless loop.

With the current high price of tickets to professional sporting events, a great alternative is to watch the game in glorious high definition on a 62 inch plasma and once again Costco has you covered. The hard part is trying to run down someone who works there to help you find the game. When you finally get some reluctant help from a sales associate you have to play really dumb and confess to knowing nothing about high-def. Explain that your friends have told you how awesome sports look in that format and let the sales guy do the rest. The last thing they want to do is serve you so as soon as you get set up and spend 5 or 10 minutes saying "I'm not really sure I can tell the difference between this and regular TV", he'll bolt with the excuse that he has to get more boxes for the cashiers, leaving you in peace to watch the game.

Before you do either of these things you have to go to the food section and stock up on the free samples they are constantly handing out. You can literally consume an entire 5 course meal comprising of bite sized portions of everything from cocktail wieners to parfait. It may not be haute cuisine but it will fill you up and keep you going through the duration of your movie or game. As a courtesy to the vendors handing out said snacks, be sure to comment on how delicious their wares are and ask them where you can find the ridiculously large box of that item. You know you're not going to buy them, they know you're not going to buy them; it's just all part of the dance.

So there you have it. Why bother shelling out huge prices for movies, sports and restaurants when you can get it all under one roof for the low cost of an annual membership. It's the only thing you'll ever have to send a penny on in there and, as you can see, membership really does have its privileges.
