The first thing I noticed was how terrible the service was. When you get to Costello's there is a sign that says "Seat Yourself." Since my friend is a smoker, we decided we would sit at one of the several outside tables. We sat ourselves and waited patiently for a couple of minutes, figuring that the inside of the restaurant must be a little busy and that our waiter would be with us shortly. It took her five minutes to finally get to us, but we shrugged it off and ordered our drinks and asked for a few more minutes before making our order.
Our waitress was gone for five minutes before our drinks arrived and when they did, they were the wrong drinks. She took our orders and said she'd be back with the right drinks right away. While waiting for the right drinks to appear, my friend decided to have a cigarette, but noticed there weren't any ashtrays on the table. A table cleaner was nearby and he asked her if he could have an ashtray. She got a look in her eye, grabbed one from the bus cart and threw it on our table. Finally our waitress came back with the right drinks and my friend told her about the table cleaner and her reply was, "well, she's tired."
My friend and I were relieved that when our food came, it was the right order and hot. He had ordered Lasagna and I ordered Spaghetti with meat sauce. We started to eat our meals and they weren't half bad, but they did leave a bad after taste. We figured that since both our dinners cost around twelve dollars, that we would send it back and ask for new ones. Our request was rebuffed and we were told that we just weren't used to their recipes. By this time my friend and I had grown a little irritated and decided that we would ask for a check. Our total bill came to around thirty dollars, which isn't bad, but considering the hassle we received while at Costello's, it seemed astronomical. We paid the bill and left the restaurant with little in our stomachs, but our appetites gone.
So if you're looking for good food, great service and reasonable prices, stay away from Costello's.

I go to Costello's fairly often and I have found that the food and the service is in line with the pricing. It is pretty good and relatively inexpensive. Maybe you where there on an off night but I have never experienced anything like you described
