Cougars: 7 Types of Men You Should Avoid

Stephanie Modkins
If you are an older woman who adores younger men, do yourself a favor. Select a junior companion who truly suits you. Being a cougar doesn't mean you have to act like a fool. You can still maintain your dignity and find true love. Below are seven types of men you should always avoid.

1. Teenagers
Unless you want to end up in jail or be connected with someone who still watches Saturday morning cartoons, stay away from teenagers. They are immature, sexually naïve and unable to make a commitment. These qualities are all ones a woman over 30 usually can't stomach.

2. Gold Diggers
Cougar, a type of man you should always avoid is a gold digger. Gold diggers often seek out "more mature" gals with the hopes of obtaining a life of leisure. You can spot them because they eventually lose their wallet at a restaurant and you have to pay or, worse, they have some type of financial mishap that requires you to spend a wad of money to bail them out. Be smart. As soon as you see the signs, run.

3. Momma's Boys
Momma's boys are bad news regardless of age. Not only will your lover's mother interfere, your guy may eventually transfer his "mommy needs" over to you. Either way, you won't be able to have a normal, healthy relationship. Instead of winning the heart of a man, you'll gain the weak spirit of a boy who needs constant care.

4. Unemployed Losers
Cougar, this one is a no brainier. A type of man you should always avoid is an unemployed loser. He's the dude with no dreams, talent or ability. He can't even give you the gift of laughter. All this man has to offer of a hard luck story, which, if you buy, will turn you into the ultimate co-dependent girlfriend.

5. Underlings at Work
By now, you probably have gained a bit of influence on the job. You may even have employees reporting to you. Don't ruin your career by sleeping with one of them. It's very tempting to fall prey to the flattering words of a cute, young underlying. Yet, this type of situation usually leads to negative gossip and a trip to human resources.

6. Your Daughter's Exes
Want to make your daughter hate you forever? Hook up with one of her exes. As a cougar (and mom), crossing this line is a big no-no. This type of man is the one you want to avoid because your home will suffer as a consequence. Also, anyone who dates the mom of his ex-girlfriend truly has no boundaries - and not in a good way.

7. Your Son's School Friends
This point goes hand and hand with #6. Although he may not tell you, your son won't approve of you dating one of his friends. He will cringe at the idea of hearing about your lovemaking and other intimate behavior. Show your son that he's more important to you than a fling and stay away from his buddies.

Cougars - these are the types of men you should avoid like the plague. Enjoying a younger companion doesn't have to include poor choices. Be wise and go for a new love that complements you.
