Despite every effort to nurse my husband through his cold recently and my determination not to catch his cold, I still ended up getting his cold. At first, I felt generally unwell with a dry throat. I put that down to the fact that I had not had enough water to drink that day. But by the next morning, it was obvious that I had a cold and I was more annoyed with myself than anything!
However, I still tried to avoid taking any cold medicine, as I knew that taking it would mean admitting I had a cold, which I did not want to do. It wasn't until my husband started shopping around for a cold medicine that I had to admit that I did have a cold after all. The medicine which he had recently used had not worked. Click here to learn more about that cold medicine and why it is best to avoid it.
He settled for Tussin Sugar Free Cough Formula by Today's Health. It cost less than $3 for the 118ml (4fl oz) bottle of medicine. I must admit that I was impressed with the look of the cold medicine. It is alcohol-free, sugar-free; it contains no dyes or sodium and no fructose or sorbitol. But would this medicine work to soothe my symptoms?
The directions for use were simple to follow. Tussin Sugar Free Cough Formula by Today's Health came with a medicine pot that contained both metric and imperial measurements, which was great. I was expecting this cold medicine to taste awful, but it tasted like cherry and was not difficult to swallow. It quickly coated my throat and made it feel better. I also combined use of Tussin Sugar Free Cough Formula by Today's Health with plenty of rest and lots of water, which I believe did just as much good as the cold medicine.
According to the packaging, people who are taking prescription MAOI (depression, psychiatric conditions or Parkinson's) drugs should not use Tussin Sugar Free Cough Formula by Today's Health, as it could interfere with the drugs that they are already taking.
This cold medicine is designed to relieve coughs, loosen phlegm. I found this cough medicine to be effective at relieving my symptoms without having to take a foul tasting cold medicine.
