Could the BP Oil Spill Be a Wake Up Call to Use Alternative Forms of Energy?

Alternative Forms of Energy

Kurt Evans
When things like the BP oil spill happen, we have to ask ourselves; could the BP oil spill be a wake up call to use alternative forms of energy?

Oil Spill

When the Exxon Valdez spilled 10.8 million US gallons of crude oil into Prince William Sound of Alaska, the results were devastating to fish and wildlife. (Wikipedia) The affects of the Exxon Valdez oil spill are still being felt to this day, over 20 years later.

The BP Oil Spill

The BP oil spill is somewhat different than the one in 1989. The BP oil spill looks like it's having a greater effect on the lives of human beings.

Oil

With oil washing up on beaches and leaving a stain from BP oil for all to see, it causes one to wonder if they'll ever be able to clean it up. After all, if there are still affects from the Exxon Valdez oil spill, what makes them think that they can clean up this oil spill any better?

The Food Chain

One of the things that's not being talked about, are the affects of the BP oil spill on the food chain. If, somehow, the oil gets in the fish and seafood that humans eat, then humans will start dying off by the thousands, maybe millions.

Population Control

The conspiracy theorists would jump on the bandwagon and start crying foul. The conspiracy theorists would say that this is all a plan in the grand scheme of things by the Bilderberg group to carry out their plans of population control.

Killing Millions Of Human Beings

Could anybody come up with a better plan of infecting the food chain with oil, thereby killing millions of human beings, thus affecting the ultimate goal of lowering the population of the planet?

Alternative Forms Of Energy

How many oil spills do we have to have, before we realize that we need to come up with alternative forms of energy? With 17 oil spills since 1910(wikipedia), how many more oil spills can the Earth endure?

Retraining Program

Using alternative forms of energy would bring drastic changes to worldwide economies. There would have to be some kind of retraining program in place while we switch from an oil based economy to an economy based on alternative forms of energy. We would need a retraining program in place because entire industries would be wiped out, but I'm sure that all of those job skills are transferable to other jobs.

Computer Systems

Computer systems would have to be revamped. New computer programs would have to be written. Entire systems would need to be replaced with cleaner, more efficient forms of energy.

The Pessimist

Now, the pessimist would look at all this and say that it can't be done; that it's too big to come up with an effective and efficient alternative to an oil based economy; since the whole planet is based on an oil based economy.

New Ideas And Innovations

This is why we need new ideas and innovations. When we believe that we can come up with an effective way to make our economy more efficient with cleaner technology like wind and solar, that's the day when we start a new world and a better way of life.

Greed

I know that greed is a strong motivator when it comes to oil; and, how much money and power do you really need?

Humanity

In the end, we, humanity as a whole, have to work together to solve these issues, if we want to continue to improve our way of life on planet Earth.

Benefits To Using Clean Alternative Forms Of Energy

Some of the benefits to using clean alternative forms of energy; is, not having to worry about things like oil spills. It's important to be forever innovating, coming up with better ways to do things. It's always important to come up with new ideas and keep an open mind to different ways to improve things.

I think it will!! What about Bloom energy?

Let's hope we all get the message!

This is such a relevant point, Kurt. Mother Earth has been screaming out "No more!" for some time now.

I absolutely agree with you. Of course it can be done, and it HAS to be done. If we don't get on to alternative energy soon, we're going to ruin this planet for good.

Good thought. This is the first time I have heard anyone mention the food chain. Are they ignoring it?

    Very well written. :)
