Could What You Eat be Making You Tired?

Let me guess, you're getting drowsy right about now and it's only 10 a.m. You're asking yourself how you possibly got yourself though college, when now you can barely keep from dozing off in your cubicle. You think it's coffee you need, but really it's not.

So what is really making you drowsy and fatigued? What is keeping you from reaching your goals of working late at night on your childhood dream even after you've completed an eight-hour workday at the "office?" It's the very thing that keeps you alive, the food you eat.

What types of food make you tired? Processed foods like sugar and bread are digested quickly, but these foods send the blood sugar way up only to bring it crashing down. That's why after eating pasta, you are very lethargic, and you feel like you can't do much of anything.

But the kicker is, it's not only processed and sugary foods that make you tired. It's food in general, and it's not just the foods we eat, it's how we eat them.

When I say "how we eat them" I mean for you to ask yourself some questions. How many times do you eat per day? How much snacking do you do?

Snacking will not only increase your calorie intake, but it will also increase the amount of digestion your body has to do. If your body is constantly digesting food, it's constantly utilizing the body's energy to break down food. And if you are normally a tired person, you just know that energy could be better used to help you get more important things done than eating.

Where's the proof for these claims? Well in order to find out if food is really making you tired you have start doing some restricting. You might want to try a diet of some sort like a detox diet.

A detox diet will allow you to get rid of all of the sugar and other processed foods you eat in order to increase your vegetable and fruit intake. On a detox diet, you should drink about two quarts of water to cleanse your body of any toxins and harmful chemicals that have built up in your system.

After choosing to go on a detox or similar diet, tell yourself that for about 13 days you will not snack. You will only eat two or three meals per day. When you do that, you will begin to see how much more energy you have. And finally, you will be able to get stuff done.
